I have more than 50 years of landscape gardening experience, starting as an apprentice gardener at Wellington Botanic Gardens before going on to study at Lincoln University and then starting my own landscaping business.
I have two diplomas in Horticulture and Parks Administration and Recreation and wrote my thesis on exposed plantings on Cobham Drive on the route to Wellington Airport. This led to my first book Gardens in the Wind. Since then I have published two more successful books Creating A Natural Garden, and Wind Gardens.
I take an artistic approach to landscaping and garden design and planting plans, while remaining practical and realistic. When I design and build your garden, you get a guarantee to ensure you are happy with the result at a budget that suits you.
Your new garden starts with a consultation at your location. During the consultation, I'll look at all the aspects of your section (positive and negative) to develop the best plan to accentuate the wonderful parts and improve on the more difficult areas.
While on site, I can provide rough sketches so you can see how a plan might come together. Once a plan is finalised, I can project manage the planting and any hard landscaping solutions for your garden such as decking, organising everything from excavation to sourcing plants. Alternatively, if you would rather complete the work yourself, I can provide plans and costings and suggest suppliers for you.
I work with clients across the Lower North Island, including Wellington, the Kapiti Coast and the Wairarapa. Consultations can be arranged after hours and at weekends to suit you if required.
